General speaking, I think most of classmates all lead an interesting micro-teaching. Everyone tries to make the teaching procedure lividly by creating many interactions among students. For example, the way of game-playing is very welcome to students, especially for little children. So it is very good for teacher to take such a teaching way. Of course, the teacher has to design different game according to different level student.
And I pay more attention to the coincidence between the levels of the target students and the teacher’s real teaching level. Some classmates give me a feeling that they do a routine oral presentation in college instead of considering the micro-teaching a real teaching. So sometime they will neglect the use of spoken language, that is to say, the degree of their spoken language is more difficult than what they want to teach to student. In addition, some classmates can speak more lividly and enthusiastic because that will draw much more students’ attention. In my opinion, facial expression, body language and eye contact are also important to raise students’ interest and attention. So I will also notice those points when I make comments. In general, I like most of teaching materials and activities our classmates had used.
Peer comment for me
I am very glad to see the peer comment that I show a full enthusiasm for my teaching. Maybe because Kin men is my hometown and I like the traveling, I can be more familiar to my topic. Basically our nice classmates and teacher all give me positive comments. And I am very happy that they all like my activity and think my activity is very interesting and can make students practice what I have taught. Clear and loud speech is also good comment to increase my confidence on my future performance because many teachers and friends all have said that I speak in a small and low voice, even I will just speak something in my mouth. However, maybe I was a little nervous so that I speak in Chinese by accident. Even though most of classmates don’t mention this point, I will be careful to avoid speaking Chinese next time. In a word, thank you for all comments.
Self-analysis
Basically I think I try hard to make my lesson more interesting because I believe that interesting materials will be easier to draw students’ attention. Therefore, I choose the tourist spot as my materials because you can find many beautiful photos. Before my micro teaching, I tell my roommate about my teaching procedure. And she gives me many helpful suggestions. For instance, I want to delete the showing activity because I worry time is not enough, but she tells me it will be fun to let students have a final oral presentation. And in the beginning, I don’t consider much about how to use English to explain some easy vocabulary. So later, I decide to change my teaching way that I will focus on grammar and supposed that students all have learned those words beforehand. I correct my lessen plan many times and work hard to make it looks like a real lesson, and the “objectives” part is the most difficult part to define because you have to make up concrete and specific objectives.
I believe a teacher always has to be a million times higher than students, so I request myself that I should show my full passion for my topic so that I can encourage my students to get involved into the class. Although I still felt nervous at first, even made a mistake by saying Chinese, later I push myself to speak much louder and have more eye contact with my students. Thank to classmates’ cooperation, I can finish my micro teaching smoothly.
If I have chance to do the micro teaching next time, I hope I can also show high enthusiasm and can speak loudly after all I have to achieve those goals by effect.
And I think rehearsal is very helpful, so I practice the whole micro teaching many times. I believe indeed rehearsal can reduce the chances to make mistakes and be helpful to time-control.
In a word, this micro teaching is a good experience for me, and let me know being a teacher is not easy, but you can get accomplishment when you discover that your students all enjoy your class.
